Tony Dow, Who Played Wally Cleaver on ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ Dies at 77.

 Tony Dow, the actor and director best known for playing the stalwart aged family Wally Cleaver to Jerry Mathers ’ Beaver in the iconic series “ Leave It to Beaver, ” has failed. He was 77.

His sanctioned Facebook runner posted that he failed Tuesday morning. “ It's with an extremely heavy heart that we partake with you the end of our cherished Tony this morning. Tony was a beautiful soul – kind, compassionate, funny and humble, ” read the communication from his operation platoon.

Lauren blazoned in May that his cancer, which he'd been diagnosed with times ahead, had returned.
Mathers flashed back Dow on Facebook, writing “ He wasn't only my family on television, but in numerous ways in life as well. Tony leaves an empty place in my heart that won't be filled. He was always the kindest, most generous, gentle, loving, sincere, and humble man, that it was my honor and honor to be suitable to partake recollections together with for 65 times. ”
Dow was born in Hollywood and his mama was an early trick woman and double for Clara Bow. He was a Junior Olympics diving champion, but did n’t have important showbiz experience when he tagged along with a friend and ended up auditioning for and winning the part of Wally. “ Leave it to Beaver ” began raising in 1957 and ran until 1963. Dow returned in the 1980s for the television movie “ Still the Beaver ” and series “ The New Leave It to Beaver, ” for which he also directed five occurrences and wrote one.
He moved into jotting, producing and directing while continuing to act, and piloted several occurrences of “ Harry and the Henderson's, ” “ Coach, ” “ Babylon 5, ” “ Honey I Shrunk the kiddies ” and an occasion of “ Star Trek Deep Space Nine. ”
After “ Leave It to Beaver, ” Dow appeared on series including “ General Hospital, ” “Mr. Novak, ” “ noway Too youthful, ” “ Lassie, ” “ Love, American Style, ” “ Square Pegs ” and “ The Love Boat, ” on which he played himself. He also played himself in the 2003 comedy “ Dickie Roberts Former Child Star, ” which featured bijous of dozens of former youthful actors, and appeared in the John Landis squib comedy point “ The Kentucky Fried Movie. ”
Dow battled depression in his 20s, making the tone- help videotape “ Beating the Blues ” to help others, and latterly survived two bouts of cancer. He also came a sculptor and started a construction company.
