icon is a 2009 American grand wisdom fabrication film directed, written, produced, andco-edited by James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. The film is set in themid-22nd century, when humans are populating Pandora, a lush inhabitable moon of a gas mammoth in the nascence Centauri star system, in order to booby-trap the mineral unobtanium, a room- temperature superconductor. The film's title refers to a genetically finagled Navi body with the mind of a ever located mortal that's used to interact with the natives of Pandora. Avatar entered generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the film's visual goods, direction, and themes, but blamed its dialogue and handling time. The film broke several box office records during its theatrical run, and came the loftiest- grossing film of all time, as well as in the United States and Canada, surpassing Titanic, which had also been directed by Cameron.
